Wow! What a year season 6 has been! (Who remembers our season kickoff with Katy Faust?) Don't miss our season finale. We had our annual Ask Us Anything show, along with some Walking in Unity related giveaways. It's was a lot of fun!
In typical All the Things style, we went out with a bang answering your questions! Here are some highlights from the show:
Who is your favorite singer and favorite song?
M–Secular artists: Whitney Houston, Luther Vandross, Lauryn Hill & Christian artists: CeCe Winans
Best book(s) you’ve read this year?
M–The Queering of the American Child by James Lindsay & Logan Lancing, The Coddling of the American Mind by Greg Lukianoff and Jonathan Haidt, and DEI Deconstructed by Lily Zheng
K–The Image of God by Glenn Sunshine, Faithful Reason by Andrew T. Walker
3. Any advice for 40+ year old single Christian women who are still hopeful for a husband, but struggling to meet a Christian man who shares their values and worldview?
M–Stay prayerful, stay in the Word, be patient, connect & dialogue with others within your community for support
K–May need to change churches to a place where there are more single men, continue working on yourself through things like therapy, working out, etc, & ask friends if they know anyone or have any recommendations
4. How do I find a church in my area?
K–Look at the church website and make sure they have a robust statement of faith, make sure they have classes offered for educational purposes, find unity in the primary issues and potentially be flexible in the secondary issues; Also, see a podcast episode from last year where Krista addresses this issue: https://www.youtube.com/live/Jq2cof193HU?si=vyXMZ_lHJWM6u4Kj
5. What commentaries and Bible translations do you recommend?
K–Not a huge fan of commentaries, BUT the NIV Application Commentary Series is pretty good (older volumes). Also, invest in a good study Bible, such as the ESV or NIV Study Bible. Krista’s class, “How to (Really) Interpret the Bible” also gives more info about how to use commentaries properly: https://www.theologymom.com/classes; Fav Bible translations: NIV & NLT is great for new Christians, although do not recommend memorizing from NLT
M–NIV Application Commentary Series; Fav Bible translation: ESV
6. For Monique, what theologian has helped you out the most in ministry other than Krista?
J.P. Moreland, although he’s more of a philosopher, also Carl Trueman, Glenn Sunshine, & Voddie Baucham
